Now Playing Tracks

Truly lovely :D  A scene that has stuck in memory since I was a kid… ALL because of the score :)

Tanya meets Miss Kitty - An American Tail: Fievel Goes West (3:13)

Alright, here’s the follow-up to the last video. Tanya has just finished singing, and is brought by Cat R. Waul to Miss Tanya, where she will be prepared for her show. But Miss Kitty isn’t what she seems…

As much as I love Tanya’s songs, I think that this little exchange right here, which falls right between the two songs, is my favorite part of the movie. Miss Kitty is such a doll! And I think we can all relate to Tanya. Just - the way they play off each other, it seems so nice and sincere. And listen closely to the background music - that’s classic James Horner, everyone. And more of Cathy Cavadini being a sweetheart.

In case you’re wondering who she is, Miss Kitty is Tiger (the cat)’s girlfriend from the Bronx. She left to go west before the Mousekewitz family did, and Tiger followed soon after. She’s missing him here, and they haven’t reunited yet - but if you watch the movie, you’ll see! They will!

Oh, here’s some trivia: Do you know that one of the guys who directed this film was an animator on The Great Mouse Detective? (pretty sure)
